PATTERN CARDS
• Teacher shows the children a pattern card using the 6
bricks - children attempt to copy the pattern, using any
of their 6 bricks.
• Teacher shows the children a pattern card using the 6
bricks. Flash this pattern briefly and ask the children to
replicate the pattern, using any of their bricks.
• Teacher shows the children a pattern card, also
showing which colour bricks to use - can you copy the
pattern and the colours?
• Do the exercise again, but flash the card briefly and the
children attempt to build the same pattern and colours
from memory.
PATTERN
SOUNDS
• Teacher builds a pattern sequence, left to
right / top to bottom. (see picture below)
• Teacher uses body percussion to explain the
pattern, e.g. click, clap, click, clap, click, clap
Q: Can you copy the teacher’s pattern?
Q: Can you copy the teacher’s sound pattern
as you “read” the bricks?
• Each child builds his / her own pattern; make
up your own sound pattern.
• Each child performs his / her sound pattern
for the class.
