This move mat can be used for a variety of skill building activities for example:
• Identification of numbers 1 to 9
• Identification of colours
• Identification of shapes
• Adding 2 sets together with totals to a maximum of 9 and marking answers
• Adding 3 sets together with totals to a maximum of 9 and marking answers
Here is an example:
1. Place a red brick on the green rectangle
2. Place a yellow brick on 7
3. Place a light blue brick on an orange shape
4. Place a green brick on a 10-sided shape
5. Place an orange on the number you get when you add 4+4
6. Place a dark blue on the number that comes between 4 and 6 on the number line
There are just so many ways that you can make call outs which require the children to listen
carefully, process the information and demonstrate understanding by correctly placing the
required brick onto the mat.
